Copyright & creator requests
We respect the people who make Japan worth discovering.
This page is for requesting removal of content derived from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and other posts that travelers import into Tokyo Playbook, including thumbnails, short snippets, summaries and tip contributions. You can file a copyright notice if you own the copyright or are authorized to act for the owner.
Our designated agent
Copyright Agent, Tokyo Playbook LLC30 N Gould St, Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA(307) 401-9725contact@tokyoplaybook.comRegistered with the U.S. Copyright Office (DMCA-1083650).Request a removal
If this is your own post, use the creator fast path. You do not need to make a formal legal statement. We verify control of the linked account or other evidence before acting.
What happens next
We aim to review and act on requests within 48 hours, and respond expeditiously to valid copyright notices. We may ask for information needed to identify the content or verify your authority. The 48-hour target is not a guaranteed deadline.
When a removal is approved, we remove content derived from that post from our active service and block new imports of the same post. Travelers keep their saved places and their own notes, without the removed post’s thumbnail, snippet, summary or tip contributions. On-device copies are cleared when the device next connects; we cannot remotely erase an offline device. Backups may persist for their normal retention period and are not served to users.
We email the requester when removal is complete. Our agent reviews any required notification to the user who supplied the material and provides counter-notice instructions.
Formal DMCA notices by email
You may use the form or email our agent. Identify the copyrighted work and the material you want removed, provide enough information for us to locate it, your contact information, your physical or electronic signature, a good-faith statement that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law, and a statement that the information is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you own the copyright or are authorized to act for the owner.
Counter-notices
If you believe material was removed because of a mistake or misidentification, email our agent with:
- Your full name, address and telephone number.
- Identification of the removed material and where it appeared before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the removal resulted from a mistake or misidentification.
- Your consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district where your address is located; if you are outside the United States, consent to a judicial district where Tokyo Playbook may be found. State that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original notice or their agent.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We may forward a valid counter-notice to the original claimant. Under the DMCA process, material may be restored between 10 and 14 business days after receipt of a valid counter-notice unless we receive notice that the claimant has filed a court action seeking to restrain the alleged infringement. Our agent reviews counter-notices; submitting one does not automatically restore material.
Repeat infringers & false claims
We may terminate, in appropriate circumstances, accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright. Knowingly making material misrepresentations in a notice or counter-notice may create liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
